SKI and SAIL - NORWAY
Ski Touring/Mountaineering Trip to the magical islands of northwest Norway. Based around the Harstad region on the unique wooden sailing ship the Anna Rogde (c1868).
This trip offers the chance to discover virgin powder fields and climb peaks up to 1300m on the remote and beautiful islands around Harstad - whilst living full board on the amazing wooden sailboat the Anna Rogde. The region offers a huge range of possible ski tours and climbs. Suitable for any adventurous skier as well as the hardened ski mountaineer. The area is non-glacial so technical equipment is not necessary (unless you want to climb certain rocky peaks). However, avalanche awareness and equipment is compulsory.
Being boat based offers access to places that cannot usually be skied. The snow usually lies down to sea level so not a metre of skiing is wasted! It is planned to offer fully guided days and/or the option to ski your own routes (in small groups) depending on the conditions and abilities.
Harstad is easy to reach via a 2hr flight from Oslo as it is serviced by Harstad/Narvik airport.
Cost: 1350 uk pounds (includes guiding and full board on the Anna Rogde).
Date: March 24-31, 2012
